What is the PADI Rescue Diver course?

A rescue diver will be prepared to respond to small problems like a leg cramp to major emergencies like an unconscious diver underwater.

We offer private courses that are tailored to each individual or small group and we strive to make you as comfortable as possible. Offering fully private courses allow us to accommodate last minute changes or individual challenges. We also provide mixed level training for groups with divers of different experience levels, perfect for families and friends.

How much does it cost?

What will we do in the course?

The PADI Rescue Diver course consists of three main phases:

Knowledge development: You'll learn about the mindset of a rescue diver. The course covers a wide range of potential problems and prepares you to respond to a dive emergency. Most of this can be done in advance through E-Learning, or it can be completed in more traditional classroom sessions with your instructor.

Confined water: You'll learn essential skills in a controlled environment like a swimming pool or shallow bay. You'll practice essential diving skills to prepare for your open water dives, and hopefully see some interesting sea creatures along the way!

Open water: You'll complete at least 2 training dives on Roatan's beautiful coral reef. After successfully completing these phases, you will receive your PADI Rescue Diver certification.

The course typically takes 2.5 to 3 days to complete and includes all necessary equipment, training materials, and certification fees. Come and explore the underwater world with us!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own gear?

Of course! Rental gear is included in the course, but using your own gear is the best way to dive. We do highly recommend using your own gear during the rescue course. The exercises will increase your familiarity with your gear and expose any potential interferences with your dive setup.

Whats should I bring?

Just bring a good attitude and the willingness to learn! We recommend wearing your bathing suit under a t-shirt in the morning and bringing a rash guard or quick-dry shirt to wear into the water. Consider bringing a water bottle, towel, change of clothes, and a little cash for the local shops.

Where will we do the course?

The 2 open water dives will be conducted at a shallow dive site close by the shop. The confined water training is typically conducted in Half Moon Bay in West End. Any classroom sessions can be done at the dive shop or in a variety of locations including your hotel. We often meet in the morning at Bean Crazy for a comfortable place to talk and do paperwork. This coffee shop is located right in front of the swim zone in Half Moon Bay.
