Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own gear?

Absolutely. Rental equipment is included if needed, but diving in your own equipment is always recommended. We especially encourage divers to use their own mask and dive computer whenever possible.

How deep will we go?

The maximum depth depends on the Adventure Dive being conducted. Some dives, such as Peak Performance Buoyancy or Night Diving, are typically conducted in shallower water. During the Deep Adventure Dive, students may dive to a maximum depth of 100 feet (30 meters).

What should I bring?

Bring your swimsuit, towel, water bottle, and a willingness to learn. We recommend wearing your swimsuit under comfortable clothing and bringing a rash guard or quick-dry shirt for additional sun protection. A change of clothes and a little cash for local shops is also a good idea.

Where will we do the course?

All five Adventure Dives will be conducted on Roatan's barrier reef. Dive sites are selected based on the Adventure Dives included in your course, weather conditions, and your experience level. Briefings can be conducted at the dive shop, your hotel, or even a local cafe.

Is Advanced Open Water worth it?

Absolutely. The course increases your maximum recommended depth from 60 feet (18 meters) to 100 feet (30 meters) and helps you become a more capable, confident diver. Many of Roatan's best dive sites are best enjoyed with the additional experience and depth allowance gained during this course.

Do I need a dive computer?

A dive computer is highly recommended and is required for some Adventure Dives. If you don't own one, we can provide a rental computer for the course.
